# Using the App

Use these guides to complete a task in the app. If you are new to workflows, follow the sequence below before exploring individual features.

## Start with a workflow

<Note>
  On Community, [connect a self-hosted machine](/docs/using-the-app/private-execution-networking/using-self-hosted-machines) before running a workflow. A [verified model provider key](/docs/using-the-app/ai-agent/bring-your-own-key) is required only if you want to use the agent.
</Note>

<Steps>
  <Step title="Copy a workflow">
    [Choose a workflow from the Library](/docs/using-the-app/workflow-and-executions/using-workflows-from-the-library) and copy it into your workspace. Start with a workflow whose purpose matches your task.
  </Step>
  <Step title="Configure your copy">
    [Review the node inputs](/docs/using-the-app/workflow-and-executions/building-and-debugging-a-workflow#2-configure-and-run-a-single-node) and supply the values or files the workflow needs. A copied workflow may still need configuration.
  </Step>
  <Step title="Run and inspect">
    [Start a run](/docs/using-the-app/workflow-and-executions/executing-and-scheduling-workflows), then [review its status and outputs](/docs/using-the-app/workflow-and-executions/working-with-runs). If it fails, inspect the affected node before changing its configuration and trying again.
  </Step>
</Steps>

## Find your way around

| Where | When to use it |
| --- | --- |
| [Inbox](./inbox) | Review run updates, unread agent replies, and requests for your attention. |
| [Agent](./ai-agent/agent-mode) | Start or resume a conversation and inspect its connected work. |
| [Footer Agent bar](./ai-agent/agent-mode#chat-while-browsing) | Keep a conversation open while browsing another page on desktop. |
| [Workflow header](./workflow-and-executions/navigating-the-editor#top-bar) | Switch between Workflow, Database, App, Files, and Computer. |

A conversation and a workflow have separate histories. Check the workflow name in the composer before asking an agent to change or run it. To inspect a past execution, select a run; to see current sandbox files or apps, use the workflow's header views.
