# Using the Computer

## When to use Computer

Use **Computer** when the Agent needs a visual application or a browser. It opens a desktop for that work. The desktop is not your own computer.

## Open Computer

In a workflow, select **Computer** in the view switch. Without a workflow, select **Computer** beside **Files** and **Browser**.

The Agent can also offer the desktop from the conversation. **Watch** follows the screen. **Take control** is for a step you need to do yourself.

## Work on the desktop

Watching follows the screen. Your clicks and keystrokes are not sent.

To act yourself, select **Take control** on the bar under the desktop. Click the desktop, then use the mouse and keyboard. When you are finished, select **Return control**.

**Take control** does not pause the Agent. If the Agent is still using the same application, stop its current turn first. **Return control** returns you to watching. It does not send a message. Tell the Agent what you finished, then ask it to continue.
