# Creating and Importing a Skill

## Before you start

A [Skill](/docs/key-concepts/agent/skills) is reusable instructions for a type of task. You add one under **Settings > Agent > Skills**. After you save or import it, the skill is in the library and the Agent can use it.

## Create a blank skill

Select **New skill**, then **Create blank skill**. An empty list offers **Create your first skill** instead.

Under **Properties**, enter **Name** and **Key**. Both are required, and **Key** must be unique. **Description** is optional. Write the instructions in **SKILL.md**. Those instructions might say how to review a workflow's files and which details the report should include.

Select **Save**. The skill appears in the list.

## Import from a URL

Select **New skill**, then **Import from URL**.

Paste a URL to a **SKILL.md** file or a GitHub directory, then select **Import**. The skill is added to the same library.

If the import fails, check that the address points at the skill file or directory, and try again.

## Change a skill

Open a skill you created and edit it, then select **Save**.

A built-in skill is read-only. **Fork to Edit** makes a copy you can change. The original stays as it was.
