# Bringing Your Own Key

## Before you start

A provider key lets the Agent use OpenAI, Anthropic, or Google models from your own account. [Managed AI](/docs/key-concepts/agent/managed-ai) is the other way for a workspace to get model access.

**Bring your own key** appears under Settings when the workspace can store a provider key. People in the workspace share the key you save.

## Add and verify a key

Open **Settings > Agent > Bring your own key**. Turn on the OpenAI, Anthropic, or Google row.

Create the key at the provider if you do not have one yet:

- [OpenAI](https://platform.openai.com/api-keys)
- [Anthropic](https://console.anthropic.com/settings/keys)
- [Google AI Studio](https://aistudio.google.com/apikey)

Paste the key. **Label** is optional. Select **Save & verify**.

**Verified** means the key is ready. The saved key is displayed as a masked value. If Agent shows **Connect a key to chat**, you can add the key from that screen. It uses the same save and verify steps.

If verification fails, select **Verify key**, or delete the key and paste a new one from the same provider.

## Use the key

Return to the Agent and open **Pick model**. Choose a model from a provider you verified.

If the composer says **Add provider key**, the key is missing or not verified yet.

## Replace or remove a key

A saved key cannot be edited in place. Select **Delete key**, turn the provider back on, and run **Save & verify** with the new key.

Turning the provider off also removes the key. It does not pause it. Remove a key only when the workspace should stop using that provider.
