# The Agent

## What is the Agent

The **Agent** is the assistant built into Trickest. You describe the outcome you want in chat, and the Agent can inspect data, edit a workflow, create files, or run work on your behalf. The conversation is where you direct the work; the workflow and files beside it are where you review the result.

## Where you use it

Select **Agent** in the sidebar to open the Agent workspace. When you connect a workflow to a conversation, its graph opens beside the chat so you can review changes as the Agent works.

You can also open the Agent from the workflow editor, beside the canvas. Select **Agent** on the edge of the editor. Closing that column does not delete the conversation.

## Model access

Model access comes from [Managed AI](/docs/key-concepts/agent/managed-ai) or a verified [provider key](/docs/using-the-app/agent/bring-your-own-key). With Managed AI, Trickest provides the models and you choose one from the Agent's model picker. A provider key is a workspace key for OpenAI, Anthropic, or Google. When that key is connected, the picker lists models from that provider.

## Working with workflows and files

You can talk to the Agent with no workflow attached, or connect one when the work belongs to a specific graph. Once connected, the Agent can inspect and edit that workflow beside the conversation. Workflow runs still execute on your fleet, while the Agent's own files and shell commands use its sandbox.

[Using the Agent](/docs/using-the-app/agent/using-the-agent) is the day-to-day guide. [Agent sandboxes](/docs/key-concepts/agent/sandboxes) explains the environment those files and commands use.
