# Agent Sandboxes

## What is an Agent sandbox

An **Agent sandbox** is the Linux environment the [Agent](/docs/key-concepts/agent/the-agent) uses for files and commands.

A workflow run does not happen inside the sandbox.

## With or without a workflow

A conversation with no workflow uses a scratch sandbox. Those files stay with that conversation. When you connect a workflow, later work uses that workflow's sandbox. The editor and any chats on that workflow share it. Files already in the scratch sandbox stay there. They do not move.

[Working with Files, Terminal, and Previews](/docs/using-the-app/agent/files-terminal-previews) covers files, the terminal, and a preview. [Using the Computer](/docs/using-the-app/agent/using-the-computer) covers the desktop in the same environment.
