# Memory

## What the Agent remembers

**Memory** is context the [Agent](/docs/key-concepts/agent/the-agent) can carry across conversations in a vault. Open it under **Settings > Agent > Memory**.

**Your instructions** describe how you want the Agent to work with you, such as response style or working preferences. Saved memory records context the Agent has kept from previous work.

Saved memory is organized into three groups. **Knowledge** stores facts the Agent may need again. **Daily logs** record recent work so a later conversation can pick up useful context. **Workflow notes** stay with one workflow and apply only while you work on that workflow. For example, your instructions might ask for short replies, while a workflow note records which folder that workflow uses for results.

## How this affects later work

Later conversations can reuse this context, so preferences and stored facts do not have to be entered again. Memory does not rewrite earlier chat messages. Deleting an entry removes it from saved memory.

A [Skill](/docs/key-concepts/agent/skills) provides reusable instructions for a type of task. Memory stores context about you and your work. [Editing Memory](/docs/using-the-app/agent/editing-memory) is where you review and change these records.
